The Church and the Trees

My mother took many photographs of this building bordered with Italian cypress trees.

a story

In one of our last talks – teacher to student – she told me that she was the architect of this building and that it originally housed a Church.* “The Church could hold 2000 people! What happened to the Church?” She was also very concerned about the trees. She felt the trees had not been allowed to grow properly, “This is terrible for the air, we need the photosynthesis provided by these trees!”

* The “Church” was actually a store called Heller’s for Children which was in that location (514 4th Street, San Rafael) for over 50 years.
